A private boat, Positano behind you, the light exactly where it should be — and a photographer your partner will never notice. I plan around twenty proposals on the Amalfi Coast each year, most of them on the water at sunset. The boats are operated directly by my own local team, so the timing, the route and the privacy stay entirely in our hands.

On the water
Why my own boat matters.
CONTROL.
The boat is mine, run directly by my own local team. No middlemen. No shared charter. No rigid return time. No stranger coordinating the moment. No communication chain.
Private. Flexible. Controlled locally.
So nobody else decides when it leaves or who else is on it. There is no marina schedule to fit around and no other charter waiting for the hull back at seven. If you want to sit still for twenty minutes while you work up the nerve, nobody rushes you.
Positano is usually the backdrop and sunset is usually the hour, because at that time of day the light does the work that no decoration can. It is also the only reliable way to be genuinely alone on a coast this crowded.
Proposals happen on land too, and I plan those as well — a terrace, a garden, a quiet corner of Ravello — if the water is not your idea of it.
